Volumize continues onward as November 1st will see episode 135. We will welcome two brand new guests to the show! Kotsy will take us on a terrific and much needed tribal house trip while The Underground Show's Oddie O'Phyle lays down some solid house beats.
KOTSY:
A native to the Greater Toronto Area, Kotsy is a tenured member of Toronto's night life scene for the last 15+ years being influenced by artists like DJ Dwight, Tranzit, Craig G, Steve Fobert, Justin Anderson, Deko-ze, Sydney Blu, Mark Oliver, The Roaches, and The Junkies.
Starting out as most DJs would, Kotsy would play at house parties and various corporate events in and around the GTA. After moving slightly east to attend college in Belleville, he began to make guest appearances DJ'ing in nightclubs in the area. Kotsy has seen residencies at places like The Shark Pub, Matt & Joe's, The Hub, and even Stages in Kingston, ON.
As his name and talent became more widely recognized, Kotsy had been given opportunities to perform opening DJ sets for Canadian rock bands Not By Choice, Treble Charger, Gob, Thornly, 54-40, and Bif Naked.
After moving to the Toronto, Kotsy decided to switch his DJ'ing style from the usual Top 40 and commercial house to a more underground sound using house and techno. Experience followed as Kotsy was able to grace his new sound at places like Acid Lounge (inside The Guvernment), Footwork, Comfort Zone, Silver Dollar, The Mod Club Loft, L'ly, Splash 231 as well as a couple of Zero Percent underground studio parties. Kotsy also joined the airwaves and internet radio scene playing on OHM Society Podcast (Montreal), Amplified Radio (Kitchener-Waterloo), and Fast Forward Radio (Toronto) allowing his sound to reach as far as places like Germany, Greece, Egypt, UK, and Austria.
Kotsy currently hosts a monthly podcast entitled "MAXIMUM DRUMS" which focuses on tribal and percussive house.

TIM PENNER:
Canadian born Tim Penner's decade-long experience working in the electronic music industry has afforded him a unique perspective on the production process. Driven by a passion to derive innovative sounds from the manipulation of frequencies, Penner has been able to generate a unique style loosely based upon the blending of themes inherent in the techno, house and trance arenas. Genre-defying in its classification, his work has graced a host of leading record labels and regularly supported by such luminaries as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Above & Beyond, Guy J, and Matt Darey. Furthermore, a clutch of production credits can be found upon the Konstrukt imprint, run alongside Brazilian supremo, DNYO. In tandem, the duo has formed a highly impressive roster and release schedule.
With a successful hand in the electronic music industry, Tim also balances his skills with music designed for the TV, film, and video game industry. He specializes in wide atmospheric sounds, epic percussive builds, and intense ochestral soundscapes. His music takes on magnificent and unique shape to create extraordinarily imaginative pieces that, when paired with the right visual element, will captivate audiences beyond words.
“We’re in an era beyond simply making songs. We’re venturing into a brand new world of true audio manipulation. Music is made of frequencies that create the soundtrack to our lives. If you can harness this concept through technology, you can innovate rather than imitate." -Tim

May 15th 2015:
Volumize returns on June 7th with more deep, dark, and dirty beats to keep your summer sizzling! This month features the mixing talents of Paul David and Ryan Lamont!
PAUL DAVID:
For Paul David, being born in Scotland and emigrating to Windsor, Canada has certain advantages if you are an electronic music producer.
First, Windsor has the unique feature of being situated just two minutes by car from Detroit, Michigan, the city where one of electronic music's most important movements began and the sounds of seminal techno music broadcast from Detroit radio stations were easily received by those who lived in Windsor.
Meanwhile, Paul David's cousin back in Scotland was sending him a steady stream of mixtapes from the rich UK underground music scene.
Moving to Toronto after university, Paul began to release electronic music under the name Sudden and performing as a Live PA which led to him opening for techno legends Orbital and invitations to play at festivals like Detroit's Movement from Carl Craig, WEMF and Toronto's Edgefest, where he mixed beats to a huge crowd of astonished Nickleback fans.
Later, Paul released two albums of 8-bit electronic music under the name "Le Bus"; stripped down songs with abstract yet catchy vocals. One of the albums CBC Radio declared "..could easily be one of the best electronic albums of the year!". This project made massive impact on Canadian college radio, gaining top tens in most Canadian cities.
In 2009, Paul David turned his musical attention to producing House and Electro, but always with one foot in his musical roots. It was then, along with fellow Toronto producer Barletta, that Paul co-founded the Burner Records label.
With releases on Cr2, Pukka Up and his own Burner Records, Paul's original productions and remixes have turned heads in the global dance music scene, receiving enthusiastic support from outlets such as Mixmag, the DMC Buzzchart, Earmilk, Hypemachine and world-renowned DJ's like Chuckie, Sebastian Ingrosso, Carl Craig, Sander Kleinenberg, Markus Schulz and BBC Radio 1 Dj Kissy Sell Out as well as numerous Beatport chartings.
Paul David's latest EP "To The Rhythm" was released April 10th, 2015.

RYAN LAMONT:
Like many artists of his generation, the origin of Ryan Lamont’s style as a DJ and producer can be traced back to his exposure to the creatively fertile ground that was the Toronto warehouse party and rave scene of the mid to late 1990s. Incredibly moved by his first encounters with the culture and deeply inspired by the creative possibilities of electronic music in general, it wasn’t long before Ryan found himself behind decks dabbling with the sounds of progressive trance,U.K Hard House and Breaks. Within a few short years, however Ryan’s style made of notable shift, gradually becoming more influenced by Toronto, Ontario’s flourishing, yet relatively unknown, Techno scene and maturing into the deeper and darker and driving sound he is most commonly known for today. His sly mixing and intuitive approach to track selection started generating a powerful response from dance floors, and it wasn't long before the serious gurus started to take notice. At the ripe young age of 21 he got his first major break DJing for Dose productions, and from there things only seemed to go up. By 2001 Ryan was already being booked at several highly esteemed clubs in Toronto such as Turbo and System SoundBar, and became a veritable household name in Ontario’s techno community, occupying several spots at such venues as Space, D2, Felicity’s and The Purple Room. Soon enough he took on the world, playing at several premier events in Greece, Ukraine, England, Germany and the United States.

Volumize is getting spiced up for the summer with 2 more guest mixes featured for the month of May from DJ Jace of Fine Grind and Stevic! Episode 129 airs on May 3rd.
DJ JACE:
Since getting involved seriously in djing and producing in 1999, DJ Jace has continued to make strides in the music business. 2014 has been a breakout year for Jace production wise. He has several key releases on labels Restructured (Greg Gow’s label), a release on Hi Bias which featured many of Canada’s top producers including the likes of Deadmau5 and Adam K to name a few, Italian labels Noise Tilt and Baci, SDL Recordings, based in Germany and his own imprint Fine Grind Audio. These releases have really put Jace on the map and have garnered support from the likes of Dave Clarke, Joseph Capriati, Stacey Pullen, Anderson Noise, Saccao and Nick Holder to name a few! As for his dj skills, Jace has been the resident dj at Purple Room/Pearl Nightclub for over 10 years now. A very rare feat in the ever changing club scene! This demonstrates Jace’s ability to stay current and consistent in his track selection and mixing style. Combine that with his energetic stage presence and his knack for interacting with the crowd it is no wonder he has remained successful for so long. He has the ability to open the evening or playing the prime time slots as he has at his many gigs across North America and Europe. Definitely a dj that shows his passion for the music!

Stevic is ready to give the world his own taste of what he considers `the deep side`.
