BIOGRAPHY:
Based in the Kitchener-Waterloo region of Southern Ontario, Canada, Aaron has been a dance music fanatic for over 15 years.
Aaron has a very particular (some would even say stubborn) taste in electronic music. Though his roots originally started out with a mixture of trance, techno and a strong love for the works of The Chemical Brothers, Aaron took a strong liking to a couple forms of progressive and electro house. Call it an identity crisis if you will, Aaron has always had trouble trying to classify himself as a single-style DJ. Though most people today expect the majority of his mixes to be of the house genre, Aaron still enjoys playing the odd trance set every now and then or experimenting with other styles that catch his mood. This unpredictable and spontaneous trait could potentially be what makes him one of the few versatile and knowledgeable DJs out there (...in his own stubborn and creative way).
In 2004, after learning about the basics of DJ'ing and spending many hours practicing on the turntables, Aaron began releasing his own personal promo mixes to the public. By 2005, Aaron was able to open up a show for the legendary trance artist, Airwave at Toronto, Ontario's Viva Nightclub. The experience he had playing in front of an extremely large audience was unlike anything he had ever thought it would be. By the end of his set, he knew this would be something to pursue even further.
In 2006, Aaron decided to start his own radio show entitled "VOLUMIZE". Volumize has seen many ups and downs, and has evolved into many different forms over the years, joining iTunes in 2008 as a podcast and airing on a few different internet and FM radio stations around the world. Aaron has also had the privilege of hosting many guest DJs on the show (some notable names include: Wolfgang Gartner, Lazy Rich, Bingo Players, Thomas Penton, John Acquaviva, Olivier Giacomotto, David Amo & Julio Navas, Pig & Dan, Sharooz, The Frederik, Manuel De La Mare, Airwave, Jewel Kid, Tomcraft, Daniel Portman, Platinum Monkey, Federico Scavo, Luigi Rocca, and many, many more). Today, Volumize can still be heard monthly on the flagship iTunes podcast, as well as Aaron's MixCloud page and focuses on a wide variety of house music including tech house, progressive house, funk, indie, breaks, and electro.
Though Aaron has played at several shows over the years, he has only ever had one residency. In 2008, he became a resident DJ for the Purple Room which is part of Waterloo, Ontario's Pearl Nightclub (then named Revolution Nightclub). During that time, Aaron played many nights up until the fall of 2011. During this time, the Purple Room was considered to be a very different and changing crowd to please. Aaron was able to take advantage of this constantly evolving nature, and show off his versatile DJ'ing style at its best keeping people on their feet and dancing the nights away.
2010, saw Aaron taking on a very different direction with music as he began experimenting with the production side of things. Aaron eventually released an experimental trance EP entitled "2 Long 2 Wait" on Amplified Digital along with an experimental house EP entitled "It Is Getting Dark" on 4Play Trax. Aaron then went on to complete a couple of remixes and bootlegs to test drive in the Purple Room (his most reputable remix/bootleg being "The Mass Shout", a hard and dark techno styled track combining the productions of DJ Seb B's "Mass Noise" with Robbie Riviera's "The Shout").
By the end of 2011, Aaron's momentum slowed down as he needed to shift his priorities to parenthood for a few years. Volumize was put to rest, Aaron was not playing as many shows, and the time spent on producing seemed to vanish until early 2014. With what seemed like an eternity, Aaron started it all over again as his love for electronic music will always be strong. The summer of 2014 was a new beginning, and what seemed like a new chapter. Aaron began playing shows again, and launched the reboot of Volumize as a monthly podcast on iTunes and MixCloud. "...it felt like I was starting all over again, even though I was continuing where I had left off. I hadn't quite left the scene, but more or less watched it evolve. A lot changes in a few years with the music and the people that enjoy it, and I can't expect to have the same following and reputation I had when I decided to put things to rest for a bit. I will be re-introducing myself gradually and go from there."
